A Faith Promoting Experience.
I know, it's geeky, but, Abby's dress was an answer to prayer. She had in her mind exactly the dress she wanted to wear. After many dress shops, with a few possibilities we finally determined to try to make the dress. Abby found 2 patterns that she wanted to combine to create her ideal dress. I was feeling pretty confident until the lady at the cutting table looked over what we were going to attempt to do, and said, "Well, good luck! I'm glad it's you and not me." All week I put off starting the project because I was afraid. Abby and I finally laid out all the pattern pieces Thursday night, and I realized I was in way over my head. All I could hear was the noise of the other children in the house and the drip, drip, drip of a leaky window. Feeling completely overwhelmed, I asked Abby to say a prayer with me. After that, the anxiety left, and with Abby's darling encouragement...I know you can do this mom, I'm so excited...we finally got it done. True to form, I was still sewing on Saturday afternoon, but, Abby never seemed stressed (I've conditioned her to know that nothing gets done around here until the LAST possible moment!) Kenzie did her hair in a beautiful french braid, and she looked RADIANT! It was a New Year miracle! While it didn't look professional to me, and I saw all the flaws, Abby was so grateful...what a girl!
